Bethany Ductless Heat Pump
Ductless heat pumps are the future of heating
Due to our governments push to reduce carbon emissions, natural gas, propane and oil will be a thing of the past, sooner than we would like to believe. By the year 2030 Canada plans to reduce its emissions by at least 40 percent. This means that to deter people from using more carbon-based fuels, the cost of these fuel sources is on the rise. The price will keep going up, eventually making heating your home with natural gas or propane cost prohibitive. The future is in electric heat pumps. Heat pumps work using a technology called heat transfer and they are powered by electricity. In the summer months, the heat pump operates like a normal central air conditioner. It takes the warm air in your house, passes it over a refrigerant that absorbs the heat, runs the refrigerant into an outdoor compressor and expels that heat to the outdoor environment. In the winter, is simply works in reverse, it takes the heat from the cold outside air (yes, there is heat in cold air believe it or not), compresses the refrigerant in the home to disperse the heat inside, in turn heating the house. They do not require any fuels that increase carbon emissions so they are a good choice if you are looking to reduce your carbon footprint. Today’s modern air sources heat pumps work well in temperatures up to -30 degrees Celsius, so having a secondary heat source is probably still a good idea. Most people using heat pumps in very cold Canadian environment elect to have baseboards in their home to use when the temperature gets too cold for the heat pump to keep up with. If you are looking towards the future of heating, heat pumps are the way to go.
A new ductless heat pump in Bethany
Our recent project brought us to the town of Bethany, only 25 minutes south of Lindsay. Our customer needed a new heating system and was interested in learning more about heat pumps. It was a new build so they had the ability to choose whatever heating option they wanted. Keeping their thinking future-minded, they opted for a heat pump so they didn’t have to worry about rising fuel costs. We quoted them on a Mitsubishi Zuba-multi ductless split heat pump. They were happy with what they learned about the equipment and decided it perfectly fit their needs. Off to work we went:
- Mounted bracket inside the house for the indoor unit
- Drilled hole through the side of the house to be able to run lines from the outdoor unit to the indoor unit
- Inserted manufacturer supplied sleeve into the drilled hole
- Installed mounting brackets to the outside of the building
- Hung indoor unit on brackets already installed
- Ran lines from the indoor unit to the outdoor unit
- Installed outdoor unit onto outdoor mounting brackets
- Hung thermostat for the unit to the wall
- Started up to test
There we had a brand-new home with a brand-new Mitsubishi heat pump. If you are in need of a heating expert in Bethany or any of our service areas, call Doyle Home Services.
