Central air conditioner installation
Putting in central air conditioning, is it really that expensive?
Trying to determine the value of your comfort over the hot summer months, versus the expense of installing a new central air conditioning system can be confusing at best. While the upfront price tag of central air can seem high, there are a few factors to think about when assessing the true cost. We often see customers opting for units with a lower upfront cost, like installing a window unit instead of a central air system. This is usually predicated on the misconception that operating these units are more cost effective. While you would spend less to buy the window mounted equipment, over time you are actually spending much more on your electric bill. The truth is that if you opt for a central air conditioning system and the unit is sized and installed properly the amount added to your electricity bill is actually quite small. These are just a few of the reasons why installing central air conditioning could cost less than you expect.
A new Trane air conditioner in Bobcaygeon
A recent project brought us to the town of Bobcaygeon, one of many small towns in the beautiful Kawartha Lakes. We were called to give a quote for a new air conditioning unit. The customer had wanted a new air conditioner for quite some time but had been making do with a window unit. Once the homeowners were given the quote, they made the choice to invest in a new central air conditioning system. We were installing a new Trane XR14 air conditioner. Trane is a high-quality brand of air conditioner. Here is what we did:
- Chose a place to put the new outdoor unit to comply with codes and specifications
- Installed A/C brackets for outdoor unit to sit on
- Drilled a hole to be able to run wires and tubing into the house
- Ran wires from outdoor condenser to inside the house
- Installed indoor coil into the existing duct work
- Ran lineset from the outdoor condenser to the indoor unit
- Connect to power and start up to test
Now our customer has central air to keep them cool through the whole summer. While it might cost more up front, it is much better in the long run. Shortcuts in keeping your house cool can have unexpected price tags over the long run. Ask us how much it would cost to get central air in your home.
