Leaking Faucet in Lakefield
What seems like a small problem can become a big problem
Have you ever had to deal with a leaking faucet? How about finding out that a leaking faucet is also leaking into the wall? It would definitely not be something you would want to celebrate. When a customer has something like a bathtub faucet or a shower head leaking, they may try to fix it themselves. It would seem like an easy fix, so why not? Unfortunately, sometimes the leaking fixtures could be indicative of a bigger problem, a leak behind the fixture and in the wall. This can lead to ruined drywall, tiles, or even eventually mold. If you are unsure as to whether your leak is a simple fix or if there could be more to it, the best course of action is to get a plumber in right away. Plumbers are trained in what to look for to see if there can be more to the problem than just switching out a tap or cartridge.
A leaking faucet? Make that a new bathroom!
This job brought us to the town of Lakefield, just 15 minutes from Peterborough. The customer was experiencing a leaking faucet. Once our plumbers got there, they could see it was not only a leaking faucet but tiles were falling off and likely drywall damaged from the water. Our plumber notified the customer that the leaking fixtures would need to be replaced. Due to the damage caused by the leak, the tiles would need to be replaced and the drywall would have to be repaired. It was a good time for a bathroom refresh! The customer took our plumber’s suggestion of taking out the old tile and putting in a new bathtub surround. They would also be replacing the parts that needed to be replaced. Here is what we did:
- Took off the old broken shower valve and trim kit
- Removed all the tiles surrounding the shower/tub
- Cut out the drywall that had been damaged by water
- Made necessary drywall repairs
- Installed new 5-piece tub surround
- Installed new Moen Posi temp shower valve and trim kit
- Tested to ensure everything was working properly
And that’s that! Not only did they get everything fixed they also got a brand-new-looking bathroom just by making a few small changes. If you experience any leaking plumbing fixtures or would like a quote on updating your bathroom, give us a call to help you out.
