New electric hot water tank installation
Gas vs electric hot water heater
Putting in a new water heater puts you in position of having to decide, gas or electric? For those of you that only have electric and no gas in the home, the decision is made for you. But for the homeowners who have both you are faced with a choice. There are a few upsides to choosing to install an electric hot water tank. The cost for one, an electric hot water tank is considerably cheaper than a gas water heater. So that initial investment is easier to handle, especially when you have to replace it unexpectedly. The less you have to spend from your “rainy day” fund, the better. When you are hiring someone to install an electric hot water tank you also have more options since there is no requirement for venting. This means that you can place the water heater almost anywhere you like as long as it’s within reasonable distance to the water lines. Did you know that electric water heaters are in essence 100% efficient since all of the heating energy goes directly into heating the water and is not wasted by escaping via exhaust gas? The downside of course is that electricity is more expensive than natural gas or propane in Ontario.
The verdict, electric hot water tank!
This recent project brought us to the town of West Guilford, a small town located close to Minden. Our customer had a leaking hot water tank so they called us out to have a look. After finding the leak and diagnosing the problem it was clear that the customer needed to replace their hot water tank. The customer accepted the estimate on site and our team had come prepared with a hot water tank in tow! They installed a John Wood ProLine 40-gallon tank. Here is what was done:
- Turned power off to the tank and drained the water from it
- Unhooked water piping
- Removed the old hot water tank
- Brought in new hot water tank and put in place
- Piped in new copper lines along with mixing valve
- Attached new copper pipes to new hot water tank
- Hooked up power to the tank
- Turned power back on
- Ensured tank started up and was working properly
And that was that! A job well done. If you are in need of a plumber in West Guilford, or any of our service areas, please contact us. Also, if you would like a quote for a new hot water tank give us a call for a free estimate.
