New John Wood electric water heater
Installing a water heater is best left to an expert
When your water heater breaks it can be tempting to try and replace it on your own. But there are some jobs that are better left to a professional and installing a water heater is one of them. The most obvious reason to hire a trained technician when installing a water heater is because it can be dangerous to do it yourself. While there are many projects that can be done watching a video online, water heaters don’t really fall into that category. Someone who has been trained to do this task can make sure everything is hooked up properly and safely. Another benefit to hiring a trained tradesperson is that when you have them help you select the right water heater for you and your family, they know which is the best size and type for your specific needs. If you try to buy it on your own you can end up installing a water heater that is not adequate for your hot water demands. A trained technician has probably put in thousands of tanks and can easily identify the right piece of equipment. When installing a water heater, it is best to get someone who knows the equipment so you don’t have any interruptions to your hot water.
An electric water heater in Pickering
This recent project brought us to the town of Pickering, a short drive from Ajax, Ontario. We were called to help out a customer that had no hot water. After inspecting the equipment, we discovered that the tank had rusted in the burner compartment. This had stopped it from working properly and that was the reason for having no hot water. Our technician presented them right away with an estimate to replace the water heater. The type of tank we planned to install was a John Wood 40gallon Proline hot water tank. Once accepted we got right to work. Here is what we did:
- Turned off water supply
- Drained old tank
- Disconnected power to the old tank
- Unhooked all piping and connections to the old tank and removed it
- Brought in new tank and put in place of old
- Hooked up water supply to the new tank
- Connected all electrical connections
- Turn water back on and test
