Pressure tank and jet pump installation in Millbrook

Water from a well needs a pressure tank and jet pump

One of the trade offs of living in smaller rural communities is not having access to municipal water supplies. For the majority of residents in these areas, they must rely on ground source water delivered from wells on the property. Now, having a well is only the first step in getting usable water the home. You’ll also need to run a water supply line from the well to the house. You’ll need a pump to pull the water from the well and deliver it to the house’s pluming lines. You’ll also need a pressure tank to help push the water through the house with pressure to deliver a nice strong and steady stream.

New pressure tank and jet pump installation in Millbrook

We recently installed a new pressure tank and jet pump for one of our customers in Millbrook, Ontario, just 20 minutes southwest from Peterborough. Installing a pressure tank and jet pump involves several steps to ensure proper functionality and performance. Here’s a general description of the installation process we undertook:

  1. Prepared the well with a new water supply line.
  2. Installed the pressure tank by mounting the pressure tank vertically using brackets. We positioned it close to the jet pump and ensured it was accessible for maintenance. We connected the tank’s inlet to the water supply line coming from the well using appropriate pipe fittings.
  3. Installed the jet pump. We positioned the jet pump near the pressure tank, ensuring proper alignment with the well water supply line. We than connected the pump’s inlet to the water supply line and its outlet to the pressure tank using suitable pipe fittings. We securely fastened the pump to a solid surface.
  4. Connected electrical wiring. We connected the electrical wires from the pressure switch to the jet pump. We ensured the power source was turned off before making any electrical connections. We then used the appropriate wire connectors and junction boxes for safety.
  5. Installed the pressure switch and pressure gauge. We mounted the pressure switch near the pressure tank and connected it to the jet pump using the appropriate electrical wires. We attached a pressure gauge to the pressure tank to monitor the system’s pressure accurately.
  6. Installed the check valve. We installed a check valve on the water supply line between the jet pump and the pressure tank. This valve prevents water from flowing back into the well, maintaining system pressure and preventing damage to the pump.
  7. Checked for leaks: Once all the components were installed, we inspected the entire system for any signs of leaks. We then tightened any loose connections and ensured there were no water leaks from the tank, pump, or plumbing connections.
  8. Primed the pump. Jet pumps require priming in order to function so we filled the pump with water before turning it on. Priming helps create suction and ensures proper operation.
  9. Tested the system. We turned on the power and observe the system’s operation. We checked if the pressure switch was functioning correctly by monitoring the pressure gauge as the pump cycled on and off. We then adjusted the pressure switch settings accordingly.

The end result, a happy customer with a reliable source of water operating at expected pressures within the home. If the water pressure in your home isn’t what you are accustomed to, or even worse, you don’t have running water at all, call the experts at Doyle Home Services to diagnose the issue.
