UV System Install in Woodview
Who doesn’t love safer drinking water?
When you live in the city you can turn on your tap and you don’t have to think about whether or not that water is safe to drink. When you want to escape to your cottage, it’s a bit of a different story. If your cottage is located on the lake, you would likely pull your water from there. The upside to being in this situation? You are not paying for the water you use. The downside? You are solely responsible for the quality of the water coming out of your taps.
How to get clean, safe water from the lake
The first step is to complete a water quality test by bringing a sample of your water to your local health unit. They will test your water for the presence and levels of any bacteria or pathogens thus determining its suitability for consumption. Since it is coming from the lake you are pretty much guaranteed to need a filtration and purification system to get your water safe enough to drink. Never fear! This is an easy fix. With a moderate investment and some trained plumbers, you can have safe drinking water in just a few hours. A UV system will take care of all the harmful bacteria and sediment in the lake water. Without it you could be looking at serious health problems for you and your family due to poor water quality.
Clean water with a new UV system
This job brought us to the town of Woodville, just a half hour north of Port Perry. Our customer had a cottage and they wanted to be able to pull water directly from the lake. In order to do this, they would need to install a water filtration system. At Doyle, we choose to work with Viqua when it comes to water treatment products. They are excellent quality and still affordable for the average customer. We quoted a Viqua D4 UV Max water filtration system. The customer accepted our quote and away we went:
- First, we shut off the water at the main supply valve
- Next, we mounted the pre-filter and UV system on the wall where the customer could get easy access to change out the filter and the bulb
- We then installed a UV light into the quartz sleeve carefully using gloves and not touching the bulb
- Connected water lines to the Viqua system
- Connected power to the water treatment system
- Started up unit and tested
That was that! The customer was able to pull water directly from the lake without any worry. There are many different water treatment options outside of just cleaning your water. If you want to know what water treatment options would be helpful to your household give us a call for a free quote.
